Rose Petals

Harvesting and drying out some of the abundance from the Wishing Wellness Garden.

Rose petals are used to make rosewater using a distillation process- Rose water can be used as a facial mist and in recipes. Rose petals are also great in teas. Adding rose tea to your health regimen may help treat arthritis, menstrual cramps, flu, cold, digestive difficulties, bronchitis, depression, insomnia and many other chronic diseases. Unlike rose hip tea, which is made from the fruit of the rose plant, this tea is derived from the whole blossoms or petals.

Using fresh lemon leaves and macerating them with fresh rose petals makes for a great tea as well.

Elotes, Mexican Street Corn

"Corn became ubiquitous in the Americas, being the main ingredient for tortillas, breads, stews, tamales, puddings and even beverages. Corn on the cob, an American classic, is known as Elote in Mexico, where it’s boiled or roasted and served on a stick or with the husk as a handle. It’s a beloved street food favorite, and it’s easy to see why since this humble crop makes the perfect vehicle for all sorts of savory add-ons." http://thetable.homechef.com/brief-history-elotes/

Hydration

💦Hydrating 💦 Even though we are no longer in triple digits it's still important to remember to hydrate. Dr Scott uses glass bottles. Glass used for food and beverage containers doesn't leach chemicals, nor will using glass to hold beverages other than water i.e. Tea, sports drinks, affect the material or absorb residual tastes or odors. Glass bottles are also safe to clean in a dishwasher 💧💦 Some Facts About Plastic Bottles:  The production of one plastic bottle uses energy, omits toxins into the air, and uses more water to produce than the amount of water put inside the bottle for drinking!
Americans throw away 35 billion plastic water bottles every year.
About 45% of bottled water brands are sourced from the same municipal water supplies as tap water.

Acroyoga

Dr. Scott and Ren started taking yoga classes together in college.
It was a natural progression to begin doing poses together. After taking some Thai Massage classes and partner yoga workshops & watching YouTube 'how to' videos they started practicing #AcroYoga #PartnerYoga--Ren's passion for local art became the inspirational back drop of many of the photos we post on our @VegasYoga Instagram account. Gardening: Swiss Chard

Growing in the garden:

Swiss chard is an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, magnesium, copper, manganese, potassium, vitamin E and iron. It is a very good source of dietary fiber, choline, vitamin B2, calcium, vitamin B6, phosphorus and protein.

Some of the promoted health benefits of swiss chard include the ability to regulate blood sugar levels, prevent various types of cancer, improve digestion, boost the immune system, reduce fever and combat inflammation.

Fish Oil

Fish oil is now the third most widely used dietary supplement in the United States, about 10 percent of Americans take the pill for the omega-3 fatty acids.

According to the National Institutes of HealthA study from the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology omega-3 fatty acid DHA in fish oil enhances B cell activity (a white blood cell), believed to prevent disease by reducing inflammation.

Findings show omega-3 fatty acids may help to:

Lower blood pressure
Reduce triglycerides
Slow the development of plaque in the arteries
Reduce the chance of abnormal heart rhythm
Reduce the likelihood of heart attack and stroke
Lessen the chance of sudden cardiac death in people with heart disease

Supplements are an unregulated industry so spending money on inferior products is a real concern. In order to find high quality product Dr Scott has researched companies that have high standards and use 3rd party testing to ensure quality. We have done the legwork so you don't have to.
